Why Your Smart Home Devices Keep Dropping Off Wi-Fi

Extenders make it worse as often as better

Plug-in extenders create a second network name and rebroadcast a signal that may already be weak, and smart devices are particularly prone to clinging to the wrong one. A device that connected once near an extender can keep trying to use it from across the house. Wired access points avoid this by presenting one strong, consistent network.

The reliable fix

The dependable answer is proper coverage on a network built to handle a lot of devices: access points placed where the devices actually are, a stable 2.4GHz band, and enough capacity for everything connected. Get that right and smart devices stop being temperamental, because the thing they were fighting against is gone.
