Upcoming Project / Residential Property
Ring to UniFi CCTV Upgrade
A planned residential upgrade moving from subscription cloud cameras to UniFi Protect, with local storage and coverage planned around the whole property.
The challenge
Where things started
The property is covered by Ring floodlight cameras, which leave gaps around the grounds and keep recordings behind a monthly subscription, stored on the manufacturer's cloud rather than on site. Night-time coverage depends on the floodlights being triggered, leaving darker areas poorly served.
What Symnetrix did
The approach
- Replace the Ring floodlight cameras with UniFi G6 Bullet Pro cameras
- Add infrared enhancers to extend reliable coverage after dark
- Position cameras deliberately for approaches, entrances and previous blind spots
- Wire each camera over Power over Ethernet back to the network
- Record locally to a UniFi Protect console, removing the monthly subscription
Planned outcome
What to expect
Once complete, the property will have full coverage at higher image quality, with footage recorded on site and no ongoing subscription.
The infrared enhancers will extend dependable night-time coverage to the areas the previous cameras could not reach. This page will be updated with the finished result once the installation is complete.
